Biography
Dr. Justin Laube is a board-certified integrative and internal medicine physician, healologist, medical reviewer, teacher, writer and consultant with extensive expertise in integrative health, medical education, and trauma healing.
He graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in biology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and a Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Minnesota Medical School. During medical school he completed a graduate certificate in integrative therapies and healing practices through the Earl E. Bakken Center for Spirituality & Healing. He completed his three-year residency training in Internal Medicine at the University of California in Los Angeles in their primary care track, and a two-year fellowship in Integrative East-West Primary Care at the UCLA Center for East-West Medicine.
Dr. Laube was an assistant clinical professor at the Center for East-West Medicine and the UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine where he provided primary care and integrative east-west medical consultations. He was the fellowship director there, led the curricular redesign and board recertification process and led courses for physician fellows, residents, and medical students. While on faculty he completed the UCLA Medical Education Fellowship and received his Certificate in Innovations in Curriculum Design and Evaluation.
He has extensive experience with medical reviewing of health and medical articles from health media websites that adhere to strict editorial ethical and accuracy standards, including for example Everydayhealth.com, CastleConnolly.com and the We Are Not Alone community. He is also an editorial consultant for best practices around the use of integrative health and traditional medicine terminology.
He continues to be engaged with the integrative health fellowship community and is a consultant for curriculum and design. He has specific technical experience helping programs with new and re-certification of programs for the American Board of Integrative Medicine and the Academic Consortium of Integrative Medicine and Health.
He is completing a multi-year personal and professional sabbatical that has explored the relationship between childhood trauma, disease, and the processes of healing. He is developing a clinical practice for patients with complex trauma, as well as other health professionals going through significant life transitions. He is working on a book distilling the insights from his sabbatical. He continues to teach and lead retreats on trauma, integrative health, mindfulness, and wellbeing for health professionals, students, and the community.
